HUGE LOANS STALL PLATEAU STATE BAIL OUT FUNDS.

Huge loans reconciliation has stalled the second
bailout to Plateau State, Governor Simon Lalong’s
media aide said yesterday.
bailout to Plateau State, Governor Simon Lalong’s
media aide said yesterday.
Emmanuel Nanle told Daily Trust that Plateau
was not in the first 11 of the 22 states expecting
the funds, adding, “we are not among the first 11
states cleared for the bailout because of some
reconciliation of the loans collected by the past
administration of Jonah Jang”. It was gathered
that Plateau received the first federal government
bailout fund of N4.2 billion, and is expected to
benefit from a second batch.
“But my boss has set up a committee to
harmonize the loans and is also renegotiating the
loan payment option. And I can tell you that the
initiative is yielding results,” Nanle said.
He said the renegotiation was necessary because
some of the loans were not taken with legislative
backing, as there was no resolution from the
state House of Assembly approving the facilities.
